The status of retired leadership staff

Retired leadership staff

AFLEC offers retired leadership staff a local contract that follows the main lines of the French National Education secondment (détachement) contract. Their salary is indexed to the 5th step of the standard grade of their original corps. They receive the Overseas Living Allowance (Prime de Vie à l’Etranger, equivalent to the ISVL of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). They receive a development bonus linked to the number of pupils under their responsibility.

Local contract

Local-law contracts govern, in particular, the terms of remuneration and the health insurance and pension arrangements in force in the host country. Local contracts are signed by the employee and their employer, that is, an authorised representative of the school’s Management Committee.

Social security entitlements

Staff recruited on a local contract receive the social benefits provided for by the laws of the host country.

However, as retirees receive their pension from a French pension fund, they are automatically covered by French Social Security.
